Grilling Based Cooking

  • Eazy grilling with super grilling tips

If you do not have a family sized(XXL) or Jumbo sized(even bigger)

Faddey Barbecue and Grill, click here for purchasing and product info. You can get very inexpensive Champ Grill for and they are great for meat and fish but you'll need the big one for most recipes. I've used mine several times a day for the last few years and it is an absolute godsend. Here's a few reasons why you should buy one:

  • Cooks meat & fish extremely quickly. Depending on thickness, you could cook a steak in 4 minutes, or pieces of chicken in under 3 minutes. By cooking meat so quickly the food remains moist and doesn't dry out. I used to broil hamburgers and it would take 20 minutes. Now it takes less than 5 minutes and comes out much better. Plus the convience is obvious.

  • For almost all foods(especially veggies) you never have to check to see "if it's ready". Just use a stopwatch or a timer and follow the times on this site.

  • For most foods you don't have to bother flipping. Just throw the food in, close the lid and open when it's ready.

  • Very easy to clean(see tips below).

  • It really does "knock out the fat" which drips down to the drip tray.

  • Some foods come out incredibly different and better tasting on the Grill. Yellow squash and zucchini is an example. I never liked them no matter how they were cooked but on the Faddey Barbecue and Grill they come out so different and tasty. The potato chips/french fries are unbelievable and the fish comes out crispy AND moist at the same time. And who would have thought that Brussel Sprouts with olive oil would become my favorite vegetable.

  • You'll need the family sized grill for most vegetable/starch recipes especially the potatoes, otherwise you won't be able to make a decent sized portion.

  • The Faddey Barbecue and Grill is almost worth its price just for its defrosting capabilities. As you may or may not know, an item like frozen fish or meat will defrost much faster if you put it on something metal. The grill is perfect for this. If you want to defrost some burgers, fish etc. , just put em on the grill and close the lid(don't plug it in). They'll completely defrost in 1 to 2 hours and any liquid will drain into the drip tray.

Important Tips

  • I clean my grill IMMEDIATELY after removing the cooked food and before eating. Quickly wipe down the grill with a dry or warm water paper towel after removing the food. This is basically all that needs to be done. After you eat you can go back and make sure you got everything. At the end of the day I'll use a little soap on it. If you wait until the grill cools it is harder to clean and the residue from the food will stick a little to the grill. It's still pretty easy to clean, but definitely easiest if you clean it right after cooking.

  • If you cook fish(especially frozen fish) make sure the fish is completely defrosted(meat too) and that you've squeezed all the water out of it. I put the fish in a paper plate and squeeze the plate. If you do this the fish will not only come out better, but more importantly you will not damage the grill surface. For whatever reason, if you cook watery fish or something with a lot of liquid like tomatoes the non-stick surface of the grill will become a "stick" surface. However, follow the above instructions and your grill will last forever.

  • Usually you'll put the food on the grill once it's fully preheated(takes about 5 minutes and the red light will go off). If you wait an extra minute or two after the light goes off the grill will continue to get hotter and the food you cook on it will come out much hotter.

  • If you cook a lot of food on the grill at once expect it to take longer than if you only cook a small portion. Most times on this site(for veggies) are for large portions, small portions on a large grill will cook quicker.
